One of my favorite local Park Slope restaurants is Talde, by Chef Dale Talde. Some may remember him from Top Chef two seasons ago. Dale’s a sweet young looking guy who can often be spotted there organizing the orders. He’s got a really warm vibe about him it’s hard not to go up and hug him.
Yesterday Talde finally opened up in Jersey City, so exciting. I can’t wait to go! This location is bigger and offers more dim sum dishes. Chef Dale is particularly excited about a series of bao (steamed and stuffed Chinese buns) inspired by favorite fast food offerings, including Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich and the McDonald’s McRib, made with slow-roasted boneless spare ribs. Of course the favorites- pretzel dumplings, korean fried chicken and bacon pad thai are on the JC menu.
Talde partnered up with David Massoni, John Bush and “Kitchen Cousins” stars Anthony Carraino and John Colaneri. The new Talde is located in a late 1800’s building that Anthony’s father owns. The building was originally a telephone switching station then was home to the Jersey City Police Dept.
Talde JC’s decor is industrial chic with some fun Asian accents. The building also has a courtyard that will be open for dining in the warmer months. Besides Talde (which is on one side of the building) the team put in an Italian Market and Eatery called Carrino Provisions. Looking forward to trying that out as well!
